Rock Climbing


The aims of the Scout Rock Climbing Group are to promote safe rock climbing practices within Scouts SA and to train rock climbing instructors.Currently we are focusing on training more instructors as The Group's numbers have dwindled over the past years.

We encourage Scout troops to visit the indoor climbing venues in Adelaide (links below.)

We will continue to run climbing/abseiling activities for Venturers and Rovers on request. Cost $10 pp. Out of these days we hope some Venturers/Rovers will develop an interest in rock climbing, which may lead them in future to an interest in gaining an instructor qualification.

We run rock climbing training courses for older Venturers/Rovers/Leaders to give them some skills in group management and to set up climbs and abseils. After completing this course they may be suitable assistant instructors.

Gaining an instructor qualification takes about 2 years. If you are interested in becoming a climbing instructor contact the BC Rock Climbing. More info from SAREA.

The Scout Rock Climbing Group also have an 8m mobile climbing wall that is used at many Branch activities.
